Dara Danola

Mixed Media Artist

Color before words. Feeling before form.

Dara Danola creates abstract works that linger at the edge of recognition, arriving and receding like a memory. Layers of color, texture, and gesture build visual landscapes where certainty gives way to curiosity.

Nothing is fully explained. Shapes rise from the surface like remembered places—familiar, yet just beyond reach. Meaning arrives gradually, shaped as much by the viewer as by the artist.

For Dara, painting is more than a creative practice; it is a language. Where words often fall short, color, texture, and gesture become a way of listening, understanding, and speaking back to the world.

Each painting is an invitation to slow down, look longer, and discover what emerges in the space between observation and emotion. Some things reveal themselves immediately. Others stay with you until they're ready to be seen.

A Wisconsin native, Dara lives in southeastern Wisconsin with her husband, two dogs, and four kids—a household as full of color and movement as her work.
